[Author, naturalist and photographer Nick Jans wrote a wonderful book (‘A WOLF CALLED ROMEO’) about Juneau Alaska’s famed ‘friendly Black Wolf’, named ‘Romeo’. It was originally published in 2014. I came across it recently and was so impressed by Romeo’s (inspiring but tragic) story that I prepared a review of it for AMAZON books. That review was rejected (probably censored by an AMAZON screening algorithm, not a real person), but I am still curious as to what others might think about the virtual ‘rejection slip’.]

After recently completing a read of author, naturalist and photojournalist Nick Jans’ wonderful documentary book (‘A Wolf Called Romeo’) about a wild Black Wolf that emerged from the wild to become a friend of local dogs and people in Juneau (AK) back in 2006, I contacted Nick to pay my respects (both to him, for his book, and posthumously to the subject of his book, ‘Romeo’).

Nick is an engaging and vastly experienced outdoorsman who spent many years in the more rugged parts of Alaska capturing unique images of bears, wolves and other wild animal denizens of our 49th State. He suggested to me that I might write a review of his book, since I obviously enjoyed it so much. I agreed and set forth on putting my thoughts and reflections down on paper.
