Regrettably, Christyl, as famed cartoonist Walt Kelly so famously phrased it, "We have met the enemy and he is us..."

As a hanai Malihini, I found Moloka'i nui a Hina to be a very refreshing option from the madness of Oahu's and Maui's most destructive invasive species: Haole mainlanders. Metaphorically, as Lahaina burns, the realtor speculators fiddle... More QED of the below opinion.

Sadly Homo sapiens (an ill-chosen taxonomic descriptive, if ever there was one!) is the real-life 'Good, Bad & Ugly' that Sergio Leone so memorably characterised in Squint Eastwind's most famous film trilogy and I am satisfied (as a non-believer in any sort of sentient, caring Supreme Deity) that humanity has borne and always shall carry the seeds of its own, ultimate destruction. Human beings are rapacious parasites, after all, that infest the planet and destroy it. Pest exterminators 'spray' to eradicate pests...but what bigger pest than Ecce Homo?

PS: As for the slavish addiction to advanced, 'high-tech' science & technology today's younger generations accept blindly and unquestionably, Zarzan and Kaczynski may be extremist anarchists but both have in their writings tapped into the central artery of exactly why humanity (at least under the erstwhile 'Western' , or American Capitalist, model) is nothing but bad news for Planet earth.

PSS: The von Schnabel image is lovely!
