When I was a young whippersnapper and hadn't yet studied Ariolimax californicusology, I thought the humble banaana slug (sic) to be a loathesome thing. Then I attended UC Santa Cruz and learned that rather than loathsome, the Bannana Slug is actually considered to be one of the highest orders of Molusca and is in fact so veritably well regarded that it was made the mascot of that excellent party college! Further, I was startled to discover that the average Bannana Slug can absorb up to 100 times its body weight (which suggests it should be banned from our hyper-dry region)! Finally, we were all rather startled one day when every single Bannana Slug in Santa Cruz County was spotted by naturalists making a (VERY slow) Bee-line for one of the pretty undergrad girls (named Betty-Jo Biolosky...or was it Mildred Weenfinkle? I forget). Turned out she had fallen for that ubiquitous advertisement in Harper's Monthly by 'ATHENAINSTITUTE.COM' (Winnifred Cutler, PhD) for pheromones...and apparently the batch they had sent her was regarded almost universally by male Bannana Slugs as supremely HOT stuff! Poor kid! Never underestimate the power of SLIME!... Hubba-hubba!
